CPR is the key to save lives
CPR Training Program at AU Health Centre
AU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. G.P. Rajasekhar, stated that there is an opportunity to save a person's life in an emergency by performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). He inaugurated the CPR training program jointly organized by the Andhra University Health Centre, St. Luke's College of Nursing, Vijaya Luke College of Nursing, and JDS Hospital. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Rajasekhar said that CPR stands as a tool to save a life. He advised every student to receive proper training and awareness in such matters. This,would give them a chance to protect the lives of people in the society around them. He noted that cardiac diseases are increasing in recent times, and in this context, young people learning and personally performing CPR could create an opportunity to save another person's life. He mentioned that extensive CPR training is being provided to students at the university. He also stated that there is a plan to prepare some of them as 'Master Trainers'.
Dr. M. Srinivasa Rao, Anesthesia Physician at JDS Hospital, explained the benefits of immediate response and performing CPR during a heart attack. He emphasized that it is very necessary for the youth to receive training in this.
Dr. N. Kiran Kumar, Head of the Orthopedics Department at JDS Hospital, said that every person should have awareness about CPR. He added that this makes it possible to save a person's life during a crisis. He stressed that creating widespread awareness among the public and conducting extensive training programs are very important.
AU Medical Officer Dr. G.A.V. Rameshwar, JDS Doctor Dr. Sheik Haji Mastan, JDS Hospital M.D. Peterson Luke, Joint Secretary of St. Luke's Group of Educational Institutions M. Ashirvad Luke, Preetam Luke, AU Doctors Dr. K.S.N. Murthy, Dr. Balakrishna, and hospital staff, among others, participated in the program. Following this, a live demonstration of CPR training was provided.
